Terms of use
The Akoue licence agreement is Apple’s standard agreement for App Store apps. Here is what it means for buying Pro, in plain words.
Revised 5 October 2026
The agreement
Akoue is distributed through the App Store under Apple’s standard licence agreement (EULA) — the link is at the bottom of the page. The app has no separate agreement of its own.
This page adds nothing to the agreement; it only retells how the agreement works for Akoue. Wherever anything here differs from it, the agreement prevails.
What is free
The app is free with no book limit and no time limit: import, the catalog, the player, the reader, search, widgets, CarPlay, backup and export. Nothing about data safety, accessibility or security ever moves into Pro.
Pro unlocks eight features: offloading to iCloud, syncing devices, bulk operations, audio processing, merging authors, author profiles, statistics and themes. The details are on the Pro page.
Buying for good and the yearly subscription
“Akoue Pro Forever” is a one-time purchase with no expiry, $49.99. “Akoue Pro for a Year” is an auto-renewing subscription, $14.99 a year. These are US prices; in your country the App Store shows its own price in the local currency.
Both purchases give you the same Pro in full. There is no free trial, no introductory discount and no monthly plan.
Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Apple processes it: the developer sees neither your payment details nor your name.
Renewal and cancellation
The subscription renews automatically until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time: in the iPhone settings — your name → Subscriptions — or with the “Manage Subscription” button in Akoue’s Settings.
To avoid being charged for the next year, cancel at least a day before the current one ends: the renewal is charged within the last 24 hours of the period.
A cancelled subscription stays active until the end of the paid year. If a payment fails, Apple gives a grace period: Pro keeps working, and Settings shows until what date.
When the subscription has ended
Pro features close, your data does not: books, the catalog, bookmarks, statistics and edits stay. Books offloaded to iCloud come back to the device for free and play.
Sync stops, while changes pile up and travel after a renewal or a purchase. The theme goes back to Terminal, and your choice is remembered. The listening history keeps growing.
There are no pop-ups at launch and no reminders: the end of a subscription is reported by a single banner in Settings.
Family Sharing
Both purchases are available to your family group: one purchase covers the whole family.
A new device and restoring
A purchase is tied to your Apple Account, not to the phone. On a new device or after reinstalling, tap Settings → “About” → “Restore Purchases”. A purchased Pro is remembered even offline.
Refunds
Refunds are decided by Apple, not by the developer: the request is made at reportaproblem.apple.com. When Apple refunds the money, Pro switches off by itself.
Data and privacy
There is no Akoue account and there are no servers of our own; no data about you is collected. The catalog and progress are stored on the device and — if sync is on — in your own iCloud. The details are in the privacy policy.
