What’s new
The version history: what changed in each one, in plain words. The App Store shows only the latest update — here everything stays.
- 1.2 (242)17 October 2026
- Universes: books set in one world — by different authors and from different series — come together, and each universe has its own page
- Timeline: each book in a universe has its place in the order of events, and Fill by Series places volumes by their numbers
- When a book ends, the next one in the timeline starts, and the player tells you why it’s that one
- A book you read on paper counts as done, and a book that isn’t in your library can be added to a universe without files
- Looks Like a Universe notices a series with the same name by different authors and offers to build a universe — you decide
- A series can be marked as a Shared Series: new volumes by any author go into it instead of starting their own
- Search finds a universe and its books, and a dotted acronym by the whole word too; the library and smart shelves can be filtered by universe
- In CarPlay, series volumes follow their numbers, and smart shelves by author and series now work on your other devices too

- 1.1 (229)15 October 2026
- Share your listening stats as an image: each theme has its own card, for stories and for the feed
- Bookmarks export to a file, grouped by chapter — from the book card, the player and the full list
- Shaking extends the sleep timer during the fade-out, with the screen locked, and while another app is playing
- Shaking moves an “end of chapter” timer to the end of the next chapter
- Reading time now counts too: the stats card shows listening and reading side by side, with pages
- A book made of many files is ordered by the numbers in their names, not by tags — and no longer plays out of order
- Your own skip interval — any number of seconds; the buttons, mini player and widget show it
- Downloading a book from iCloud can be cancelled — files already back stay on the device
- Search finds a book by its file names too — in the app and in Spotlight
- Titles in legacy encodings now read correctly in Polish, Greek, Japanese, Chinese and Korean too; fixing the encoding repairs the whole book, and “Restore original” works for every field
A TestFlight build.
- 1.0 (198)5 October 2026
- Seeking no longer keeps going on its own when a tap on the skip button is cut off by a call, Control Center or rotation
- The next volume in a series starts after the book’s ending, not a few minutes before it
- Your place in a book and the “finished” mark no longer roll back — neither between devices nor when you reopen the book
- Books from iCloud: no more silence between chapters, and an interrupted chapter download no longer plays cut short
- The reader remembers your place more precisely and no longer drops a line between pages; verses and parts in fb2 are where they belong
- Import no longer merges different books into one or leaves half a book behind after an error or cancel
- “Add files” on a book card shows progress and keeps going if you leave the card
- The offer to offload a finished book to iCloud now appears every time and for the right book
A TestFlight build.
- 1.0 (191)2 October 2026
- The reader turns pages sideways, like Apple Books; text size, font and theme are in Themes & Settings
- EPUBs keep the book’s own layout: images, alignment, type styles and chapters from the table of contents
- PDFs open full screen, and EPUB packages from iCloud Drive open right in Akoue
- Offloading to iCloud frees space right away; text books can be offloaded too and brought back with Download and read
- Covers are shown whole; any picture — a cover, an author or narrator photo — can be pasted from the clipboard and cropped
- Your own tags on a book — “reread”, “gift”: existing ones are suggested as you type, tapping a tag filters the library, and smart shelves can be built from tags
- Outside the app you can note where a book was read or watched: on paper, as a film, at the theater; read or planned books of a series are added right from the series page
- A book’s missing files can be brought in again — they return to it with progress and bookmarks; an edition without files can be deleted, and the book stays
- A book linked to an iCloud Drive folder plays even when the system has removed its files from the phone
- A call pauses the book and resumes it only if the call was what stopped it
A TestFlight build.
How these entries are written
- The first line is the most noticeable change, in your words: what you can do now.
- No more than ten lines per version: the rest goes unread.
- Fixes go in one line at the end, with no list of numbers.
- We do not write “improved stability” or “minor fixes”: that means “we would rather not say”.
- We do not write internal screen or class names — they say nothing from outside.
